A METHOD FOR APPLYING COLOR

(Child Development Series)

Chandra Oppenheim

Dennis Oppenheim

Color Saturation is achieved when Chandra (age 2 ½) is able to unite the word symbols with the colors (through repetition). In this way, the artist uses color not to embellish an exterior surface but as pure visual sensation implanted directly on the memory track of his offspring (indirect feedback). It should be understood that the aesthetic interaction is incomplete until evidence of the effects of these exercises are found in the child’s method of observation, and eventually applied by her in future aesthetic interrogation.
